Joan terol

Is a Catalan musician currently living in Amsterdam. From age 14 he started playing with Àngel Hernàndez at the Escola de Música el Xilòfon in Reus, where he was born.

At the age of 18 he moved to Barcelona to study music at the Aula de Música Moderna i Jazz with Quim Solé and, later on, at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya with Jo Krause, Francesc Capella and Joan Monné. There he finished his bachelor degree in jazz drums in 2010. One year later he decided to move to the capital of the Netherlands to pursue a master degree in music performance at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam.

He has recorded more than 35 albums and he has played in some of the most important European jazz clubs and festivals with renowned musicians such as Benny Golson, Lee Konitz, Jordi Rossy, Jesse Davis, Maria Schneider, Jesse van Ruller, Ben van Gelder, Reinier Baas and many others. In 2013, 2014 and 2015 he won the 'Keep An Eye' International Jazz Award and in 2016 the Dutch Jazz Competition with the Xavi Torres Trío.
